Reflections & Shadows

To help inspire me I researched reflection and shadows on location photography. There appeared to be a lot of landscape and architectural photography in my findings. Below are a few examples of my work and other artists photographing in that genre.

During my research on location photography I was drawn to a photographer known by the name of Lee Friedlander. Friedlander was an american photographer.
wiki:Lee Friedlander (born July 14, 1934) is an American photographer and artist. In the 1960s and 70s, working primarily with 35mm cameras and black and white film, Friedlander evolved an influential and often imitated visual language of urban "social landscape," with many of his photographs including fragments of store-front reflections, structures framed by fences, posters and street-signs

A strong theme in Lees work is shadows and reflections. One of my favourite images is the sitting shadow.
I love the composition of this image. The viewer can see his shadow sitting in the chair as well a his reflection which I think is very clever. He has composed his shadow to sit almost perfectly on the chair in the shop window. I think the texture anand pattern on the upholstery helps to highlight his shadow. Great contrast!

During my visit to Cornwall in the half term I documented the fun my family and I had during our stay. Having researched Friedlander prior to my visit I noticed when looking back that I had subconsciously taken some images SOOC with shadows and reflections:

My daughter Evie enjoying the sea, aussie water baby! Note the reflection of her in the water..

My daughter Evie and I on our way to the beach

Clear waters

My favourite image x Evie appears to be playing with her own reflection, chasing it x

Then running away haha
